Arkansas was named as a derivative of Kansas back when Indian tribes ruled the land. Arkansas is located in the Southern region of the United States and has highland mountainous areas. There are also lowlands, rivers, and prairies. The Mississippi river runs along the eastern border, and the Arkansas River divides the highlands and lowlands.
